Exploring the culture, food, and traditions of North Carolina

Friday Links – May 4th, 2018

After a little break, we’re back with Friday Links! First off, I want to announce some big changes to Roots, Hooves, and Honey! We’re growing, and we’re adding staff writers!

A big welcome to our first new addition, Marisa Stickel. She already has some very exciting writing assignments ahead of her, and we are glad to have her on board! You can follow her here on Instagram, and learn more about her here.

And now, here’s what caught my eye this week:

Broad Branch Distillery just released a limited edition spirit: SUPERCOLLIDER ~ THE BIG BLEND THEORY

A handcrafted collision between 100% WA State Rye Whiskey and fresh Honey Crisp and Fuji apples, mashed and fermented together, then distilled. Rested in new oak and finished in brandy barrels, the result is a delicious, refined spirit with gentle flavors of cooked fruit, maple, and spice.

It’s national Egg month! Huzzah! Our friends over at Braswell Family Farms (did you catch our piece on them?) have a handy guide for you on Egg Labels… and the difference in white eggs verses brown eggs! Head over to their blog to check it out!

There is an awesome festival going on this weekend up in Kinston. BBQ on the Neuse. (I think that the Chef and the Farmer team will be there too!) Looks like an awesome spring fest, and the weather should be beautiful!

Wilmington NC just got an awesome new rooftop bar. It’s called Cloud9, and it’s located on top of the new Embassy Suites downtown. The views are stunning (As you can see by our featured image), and the cocktails are named after great Rock n Roll songs! Check it out if you can!

Enjoy the beautiful weekend folks! More exciting content, and new writers, coming at you in the next few weeks! -SG
